WhatsApp only lets a business start a conversation with an approved template. The Templates page lists the messages you send, the ones WhatsApp has approved, and which order event each one answers to. Open it from Manage templates on Business Brand WhatsApp.

My templates

My templates list with In use and Other templates tabs, template names, status badges and Test, Change variables and Edit template links
Refresh pulls the latest approval status from WhatsApp. The list is split into In use, templates currently sent by a notification, and Other templates, everything else on the account. Each template shows:
  • Its name and a status badge, for example Approved.
  • Its category, such as utility or marketing.
  • In use when a notification sends it.
  • Sends on, the event it answers, followed by the language (for example en_US) and the Meta ID.
The links under each template are Test, Change variables and Edit template.

Pre-made templates

Pre-made templates view with a plain order confirmation template preview
Pre-made templates are curated for common e-commerce flows. They are grouped by event, such as Order placed. Each one shows its category (for example UTILITY), a short description, a preview of the message and which order field fills each placeholder.

Create a new template

Open More views → Create new template.
Create new template form with Event type, Name, Category and Languages
Header and Body sections with the formatting toolbar and the variable picker
Add Button, Reset and Submit to WhatsApp buttons and the message preview
The Preview shows your message as the customer will see it. Click Reset to clear the form. Submit to WhatsApp stays grey until the required fields are filled. After you submit, Meta reviews the template, and it appears in My templates with its status.
Meta can reject a template that is vague or promotional but marked utility. Pick the category that matches the message.
