# What a Payment Rule Shows and Charges

> Add shipping charges, discounts and a returning-customer discount to a rule, and control the text shoppers see with display settings and placeholders.

These sections of the rule form decide **what the shopper pays and reads** for each option. They sit in the same Add Payment Rule or edit form as the [conditions](https://codking.tech/documentation/partial-payment/rule-conditions.md).

## Shipping charges on payment options

Normally Shopify adds shipping at its own checkout. With this feature the shipping charge is shown **inside the popup, per option**, so a prepaid option can carry different shipping from COD.

Tick **Show shipping charges on payment options**. This toggle is store-wide, but the amounts are set **per rule**.

| Field | What it does |
| :- | :- |
| **Shipping charge for this option** | The charge added to this option, shown as a badge. Leave it blank for no shipping charge. |
| **Shipping charge text** | The badge text. Use `{{amount}}` for the charge, for example `+{{amount}} Shipping`. Leave blank to use the default. |
| **Offer free delivery on this option** | Shows a green **Free Delivery** badge instead of a charge. |

> The amount you enter here is not a Shopify shipping rate. Make sure it matches what you actually charge at checkout so the shopper sees one consistent figure. This feature needs the customer's address to be collected in the popup.

## Discount settings

Reward shoppers for choosing this option, for example 10% off for paying in full.

| Field | What it does |
| :- | :- |
| **Discount code** | A name for the discount, such as `prepaid100`. It appears in the rules list badge. |
| **Discount type** | **Fixed amount** or **Percentage**. |
| **Discount value** | The amount or percent. |

>
> You do **not** need to create a discount in Shopify. The app applies the discount automatically when the shopper chooses this option. Leave the section blank if the rule has no discount. Always place a test order to confirm the discount applies correctly.

## Extra discount for returning customers

Available on Full Payment rules. A customer who has ordered before gets an extra discount **on top of** the rule's own discount, applied to the whole order. Tick **Give returning customers an extra discount**, then choose **Discount type** (Percentage or Fixed amount) and a **Discount value**.

Shoppers see a **Returning customer offer** badge. You can change that wording in [Customer experience](https://codking.tech/documentation/partial-payment/customer-experience.md#badges).

## Display settings

These control the text on the option. All are optional.

| Field | What it does |
| :- | :- |
| **Amount to show** | Overrides the amount the app calculates. Leave it blank to let the app work it out. Use it when you add extra charges (for example ₹50 for shipping) without changing the product price. |
| **Sub heading** | Extra descriptive text under the main amount. |
| **Savings text** | Text beside the savings icon, for example *Save 10% on this order*. Leave blank to use the automatic savings line, which only shows when the rule has a discount. |
| **Description Template** | The sentence shown under the option. Uses placeholders (see below). |
